Attorney McManus was born in Chicago, Illinois, was married for over 50 years and has 3 children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
R. Bruce McManus graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 1957. After a brief tour of duty in the U.S. Army, he worked for Mobil Oil in Texas, New Mexico, and Venezuela. In 1962, he moved to Florida to attend Stetson University College of Law, graduating at the top of his class in 1965. He then joined his father, Fred J. McManus, who had practiced in Belleair Bluffs since the mid-1950s. The firm became McManus & McManus, P.A. in 1976. Bruce later earned an M.B.A. from the University of South Florida in 1982. His father, Fred, passed away in 1983. R. Bruce passed away in 2025.
