Attorney McManus was born in Chicago, Illinois, was married for over 50 years and has 3 children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and obtained a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 1957. After graduation and a short tour of duty in the U.S. Army, he worked for Mobil Oil in Texas, New Mexico, and Venezuela. In 1962, he moved to Florida and attended Stetson University of Law, where he graduated at the top of his class in 1965. He joined his father, Fred J. McManus, who had been practicing in Belleair Bluffs since the mid '50s. The firm incorporated as McManus & McManus, P.A. in 1976. Bruce went on to the University of South Florida, obtaining his M.B.A. in 1982. Fred passed away in 1983.
